Almost a third of Montana is made up of state and federal land. Much of that land--assuming it is legally accessible via a public road, navigable river, or adjacent state land or federal land--is available for hunting. Mule deer, whitetail deer, elk, bear, and mountain lion can be hunted in Montana.
Superior, Montana, located in Mineral County, is part of Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks' Region 2. In Region 2, you have the opportunity to hunt nine big-game species: mule deer, whitetail deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, antelope, black bear, mountain goat, and mountain lion. As for bird hunting, there are plenty of opportunities to hunt all three species of mountain grouse in Region 2.
